Het gastcollege over Elektrisch vliegen van 1 december was een succes. De uiteenzetting boeide 110 deelnemers gedurende 1u15. Dit gastcollege werd georganiseerd in samenwerking met DEAC en Hogeschool VIVES! Via deze weg willen we Geert Boosten nogmaals bedanken voor zijn interessante presentatie.

Programma:
Het ecosysteem van het elektrisch vliegtuig.
Elektrisch vliegen vraagt meer dan een vliegtuig met een elektromotor en batterij of brandstofcel. Als we ook passagiers en vracht willen vervoeren moet het luchtvaartsysteem hierop ingericht zijn. Tijdens de gastles bespreken we het ecosysteem waar het elektrische vliegtuig zich in zal bewegen. De kernvraag voor de les is: wat betekent elektrisch vliegen voor de inrichting van de luchthaven, wet- en regelgeving, luchtruim, MRO, opleiding professionals, standaardisering en certificering en internationale afstemming. Dit op basis van onderzoek bij DEAC (Dutch Electric Aviation Centre) op Teuge Airport. In de les worden deze vraagstukken belicht en vervolgens is veel ruimte voor vragen en discussie.
Spreker:
Geert Boosten has over 32 years of experience in the airport business. Following his studies in the Netherlands and four years working at a large publishing company, he started working at Schiphol Airport in 1988 (where he stayed until 1999). Working in various positions, Geert has gained experience and expertise in all aspects of airport (operations and commercial) management, business development, and strategy. As a director of corporate strategy, he was responsible for Schiphol’s master planning, long-term airport development (i.e. airport in the sea concept), and international development (i.e. strategic alliance with Vienna International Airport and acquisition of Brisbane’s international airport in Australia) as well as airport privatization, regulation of fees and charges, and new business development using ICT (including exploring cooperation with Brussels Airport). Geert is an all-round airport expert with special interest in airport strategy and development, positioning of the airport in the local community (optimizing the added value of the airport), and master planning.
As a consultant, Geert was involved in the strategy and/or masterplan development of Toronto International Airport (Canada), JFK Airport in New York (USA), Brisbane International Airport (Australia), Vienna International Airport (Austria), Brussels Airport BIAC (Belgium), Maastricht-Aachen Airport (Netherlands), Eindhoven Airport (Netherlands), Oostende-Bruges Airport (Belgium) , Airport of Kortrijk-Wevelgem (Belgium), Abidjan Airport (Ivory Coast), Lima Airport Partners (Peru), Rotterdam Airport and Bohol Airport, San Fernando Airport and Puerta Princessa Airport (Philippines), Queretaro Airport Mexico and the port of Rotterdam (Netherlands).
Geert has been a board member of two public/private founded Dutch centers of expertise in transport and infrastructure and networks/logistics and chains. As an aviation expert, he defined the curriculum of the Bachelor’s Honors Aviation Management course at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) where he also lectures. Geert is currently Professor of Aviation Management at the AUAS Aviation Academy . The Aviation Management research unit focuses on applied research on aviation capacity optimization. Furthermore he is a board member of DEAC (Dutch Electric Aviation Centre) at Teuge Airport and a board member of the Stichting Duurzaam Vliegen in the Netherlands.
